Calgary’s Insane Bylaw

dwr.jpgTo North Americans that have kept their minds throughout 50 years of postmodernism, it’s become increasingly clear that many Californians have lost theirs. A couple of legislators in “going broke” California are proposing spending $15 million subsidizing so-called gender transitioning therapy and surgery.

Laura Perry is going to testify against the spending. About a decade ago she had a double mastectomy because she believed that she was a man trapped in a woman’s body. She thought it was going to change her life, but says she was devastated when she realized that her surgery actually hadn’t made her a man. She says that her suicidal thoughts and those of many in a similar situation, were actually worse after the so-called treatment.

Another person opposing the bill is Dr. Quentin L. Van Meter, a board-certified Pediatric Endocrinologist with 40 years of experience. He says: “Biological bedrock science proves that human beings are binary sexual beings with complementary anatomy that is intended to facilitate procreation.”

I’ve been saying the same thing, albeit slightly differently. “Human beings evolved, or were created, or were created by evolution, to mate heterosexually. That is not only the natural order of things in our species, but it is in every animal species, and even in many plant species. Sexual attraction or gender identification outside of that order, is disorder. In fact, children who believe that they’re not the gender with which they were born, are scientifically referred to as having GID, or Gender Identity Disorder. Likewise, those sexually attracted to the same sex have a sexual attraction disorder.”

That biological observation in no way suggests or excuses mistreatment or discrimination against people with those disorders. I believe that now, and I lived it nearly 60 years ago. Hanging out with a gay friend, now, is trendy. In Calgary in 1963, not so much.

Dr SohScience is based on facts, and as a Calgarian, I find it embarrassing that our City Counselors are traveling that same intellectually incoherent path through the postmodern wilderness as those California legislators. They’re pursuing a nanny-state bylaw that forbids individuals from receiving counseling that might help them leave a lifestyle that they are uncomfortable with. But those same individuals, and even little children, are encouraged to receive counseling that affirms them in living a life of sexual identity or attraction disorder. Quack surgeons in the LGBT movement are performing mastectomies on little girls as young as thirteen.

The assertion by radical activists in the LGBT community, that no one ever truly leaves the LGBT lifestyle, is a lie. I’ve been to several conferences where there were many individuals who testified that they had, and I’ve had personal conversations with them. Do some research and you’ll find thousands.

Here’s a reality check. I had a friend who lived a straight life until he was in his late forties, and then came out that he had spent his life feeling like he was a female trapped in a male body. So about 15 years ago he took the hormones. Then was legally mutilated by a surgeon who assured him that he was now a woman. Two years later he confided to me it had been a horrible mistake and that henceforth he would live as what he was, a man minus his genitals.

My friend’s story should make you cry, and it should make you angry. Because Calgary counselors are now saying that what happened to my friend was acceptable, but, that if he was now in the same situation and sought counseling to help him live by his DNA, his counselor could be fined, and jailed. Pardon me for being so blunt, but you have to have stepped across the border, into insanity, to believe that that is rational.

I’m Dave Reesor

If you agree that nanny-state abuse needs to end, please Like and Share this post. It will also be posted on Facebook and Twitter. You could also send it directly to your city counselor. Social media works, if you work it!

Calgary City Counselors. Every one of them has voted positively for the bylaw banning therapy. Let’s remember to vote to positively throw them all out at the next election.

Singaporeans sacrifice some freedoms for security

dwr.jpgWe really hope that you are all staying safe, and reasonably sane during this difficult time! We took the car out yesterday because we had something to drop off, on the doorstep, at a client’s home, and then we washed the car. When we got home, we joked that that was our road trip for the week, about 20 km. At our current rate we’re getting about three weeks to the gallon.

On the virus front, some good news is that we’re told that Alberta is, at the moment, testing about 4000 people per day, more per capita than anywhere else in the world. And by the end of May the target is 20,000 people per day! South Korea with 51 million people is currently testing 10,000 people per day, down from 20,000 at the height of their crisis.

But 27 South Korean companies are currently manufacturing 350,000 test kits per day, and that will increase to an eye-popping 1 million test kits per day within the next few weeks. Many of them will come to Alberta, and Canada. One Korean company has developed a testing kit that can check nasal discharge for the presence of the virus within 10 minutes. It is approximately 85% accurate, and the test can be taken at home.

Singapore has had some remarkable success in combating the virus because they have actually been preparing for the last 15 years, while most Western countries have been talking about preparing. In this current pandemic, the Canadian government, and others, went so far as to listen to the WHO which in turn got its information from the Chinese Communist Party, which we now know has lied repeatedly.

SingaporeAnyway, here’s a video discussion with one of the key people in Singapore’s success. It’s about 30 minutes, but it’s absolutely fascinating, informative, and thought-provoking. One caveat about the video; in passing it implies that the Lee family and their political party have been in power since 1965 because there is no opposition. In fact, there are several opposition parties, but the Lee governments have been so successful in creating a balance between somewhat limited freedom and corruption free, entrepreneurial government, that Singaporeans keep electing them. You might not agree with their approach.

If you have personal protocols that you’ve developed to keep yourself safe from the virus, please share them with us! And if you know of good local sources for masks, we’re looking for some, and we’re sure others on this mailing list are as well.

Stay safe!

Meeting the Corona Challenge

dwr.jpgDear friends

The world has changed. I believe much of the change will be permanent, and while it is tragic for those that lose loved ones from the virus, I believe that much of the change will be for the good. For us, one great thing is that our kids and grandkids have been delivering food to us while we’ve been under quarantine for the last two weeks after getting home from the US. Our oldest granddaughter was by again this afternoon with several grocery bags, the third or fourth time we’ve seen her in two weeks. She’s usually working, and full-time in university, so we’re just fine with this! For many of us, this will be a time to spend more time connecting with family and friends.

.jpegA geopolitical plus is that this virus has thrown a massive wrench into the gears of China’s expansionist ambitions. Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping and his gang have caused the Chinese people to lose face around the world, and they won’t like it. The virus is not their fault, and I think that Mr. Xi will pay a price for his lies and incompetence, and will look back on 2020 as his annus horribilus, as Queen Elizabeth once referred to a particularly bad year.

Best of all, I think that this pandemic will help us focus on the things that we can do, together, as individuals and families and communities. Yesterday I was working on a blog in which I used John Donne’s famous quote: “No man is an island”, etc.. But I modified it this way.

No person or family is an island entire of itself; every person or family is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;

if a clod be washed away by the sea, the continent is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were;

any person’s isolation or sickness or death diminishes me, because I am involved in humanity.

MTE5-john-donne-8Then today, from a friend in Ottawa, I serendipitously received the link to this well written article inspired by the poetry of John Donne. My friend identifies himself as an agnostic, and although the writer apparently is a Christian, this article will appeal to people of all faiths or no faith.

Stay safe, and look after each other!

Dave

The End of Sports?

dwrJust when I am absolutely convinced that transgender radicals have plumbed the deepest depths of absurdity, they prove me wrong. We’re now told, as Barbara Kay notes in the linked article, that rather than being observed at birth, a baby’s gender is “assigned” at birth.

I suppose that this means that even if a baby arrives with the appendage that would traditionally indicate that “It’s a boy!”, nowadays it ain’t necessarily so. A parent – or maybe we’ll need a specialist in these things – can with a straight face, declare the child is indeed a boy, but, just as plausibly that it’s a girl, or neither, or perhaps one of many dozens of other modern permutations and combinations of gender. Like maybe: “It’s a ZIE!”

Now I think a problem may arise when the child reaches 10 or 12 or 14 years old and decides otherwise. But of course, that’s 10 or 12 or 14 years down the road from now, and the gender bending, leading edge Progressivists will have moved on to the latest trendy but even more idiotic – is it possible? – fad. Or, dare we hope, we will soon reach the actual bottom and begin the long upward swim towards sanity.

indexBarbara KayIn any case, you should read the excellent accompanying article (link) by Barbara Kay which goes into some of the problems that are inevitably cropping up in sports. You know, when the 6 foot 5, 300 pound, trans “woman” competing against actual women in the shot put, wins every time. Bad news for bookmakers.

https://www.thepostmillennial.com/canadian-sports-experts-embrace-misogynist-practices-to-please-trans-activists%EF%BB%BF/

We evolved, or were created, or were created by evolution, to mate heterosexually. That’s not a religious or philosophical statement, it’s just a scientific observation. The craziness needs to end, and it will only end and help begin when we become brave and honest enough to admit that Gender Identity Disorder, and Transgenderism, and same sex attractions are disorders. The truth always sets you free; lies, even lies meant to be kind never do.

Will this cold never end!

It’s Barack Obama, or Reality

dwr.jpgFor those who like to be informed, there are a couple of really big events coming up in the next few weeks in Calgary. The first event is the Things that Matter Conference, February 8 and 9 at the Best Western, Port O’ Call. Sponsored by the Essentials of Freedom organization, it has an incredible lineup of speakers. Here are a few.

Dr. John Robson is probably Canada’s leading expert on the freedoms that have been won in the 800 years since Magna Carta, and how quickly we are losing them in Canada.

Dr. Jack Mintz of the University of Calgary is one of the world’s most respected economists, who recognizes that, financially at least, Alberta would be better off as an independent country.

Dr. Ted Morton is Canada’s leading expert on the chaotic, and grossly unfair equalization formula, and how it must be fixed.

John Carpay LL.B. is founder of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom, JCCF, and Canada’s strongest fighter against the erosion of our fundamental freedoms, by governments at the provincial and federal level.

Dr. Patrick Moore was a co-founder of Greenpeace. In 1971 Moore’s co-founder, Bob Hunter wrote, “Moore was quickly accepted into the inner circle (of Greenpeace) on the basis of his scientific background, his reputation [as an environmental activist], and his ability to inject practical, no-nonsense insights into the discussions.”

I’m a big believer in no-nonsense. But now, Dr. Moore repudiates Greenpeace for its utter abandonment of science in favour of political advocacy. Sadly, Greenpeace has degenerated into an organization mostly known for its stunts.

I took the trouble to look up their Board of Directors, and I couldn’t find one scientist among them. Almost every board member of this bloated, $300 million a year, emotion peddling business, has a social activist background.

We’ve been to The Essentials of Freedom Conference since its inception and it’s gotten better every year. This year will be the best yet, and there will be guests from the US and all areas of Canada, from Québec to Vancouver Island.

The other upcoming big event is Barack Obama on March 5. Obama was a community organizer who became President of the United States from January 2009 to January 2017.

During his time as President, Barack Obama doubled the US national debt; ignored the rise of ISIS in the Middle East leading to one of the biggest humanitarian crises so far in the 21st century; foolishly declared that the Cold War was over and stood by while Vladimir Putin rolled his tanks over his neighbours; and, by constantly and prematurely injecting himself into domestic racial incidents, set back American race relations by two generations.

Meritha and I are already registered for one of these events, and you can guess which one it is. Hope to see you there!

The Too Often Quoted, Kristopher Wells

DW Blog

In Alberta, it now seems that every time something comes up regarding an LGBT issue, Kristopher Wells pops up as the go to expert; always against parents, and always on the side of “progress” Let’s look at what Kristopher Wells means by progress.

Wells is a professor, and a confidant of Alberta’s Education Minister, David Eggen. About three years ago, Mr. Eggen engaged Wells to supervise the construction and launch of Alberta Education’s Gay Straight Alliance, or GSA, website. For several months no one paid attention, but then, Edmonton mother, Theresa Ng who is now with Parents for Choice, decided to have a look.

Ms. Ng found numerous links from the GSA website to sexually explicit sites. If you haven’t already, it’s very important that you follow the link. You need to be aware of these sites, included the one that gave instructions on “25 sex positions you can try at home”, and another on how to give oral sex. For 5 years and up?!

Kris WellsWhen confronted with absolute proof of the links – Theresa Ng had presciently taken screenshots of the linked websites – the links were removed. But then Kristopher Wells took to social media to denounce Ms. Ng for being “hysterical” and “sensationalist.” Are you serious? In what demented world is a mother being hysterical by objecting to explicitly sexual content being provided, unbeknownst to her, to her children?

Judging by his verbal attack on Theresa Ng, Mr. Wells feels that making such material available to five, six, seven, and eight-year-olds is desirable. Anyone that thinks that way is, at the very least, exhibiting an appalling lack of judgment. There might also be serious psychological issues involved, for which Mr. Wells would deserve our sympathy.

But in either or both cases, Mr. Wells should not be allowed to have anything whatsoever to do with the education of Alberta’s children. Yet Mr. Wells is still looked to as an advisor by Education Minister David Eggen; and was the keynote speaker at an Alberta Teachers Association conference last summer. Alberta parents, that middle finger was for you.

Wells is also used as a source by the media, including, the Calgary Herald, the Calgary Sun, the CBC, and the consistently ridiculous, Star Metro. That the media would look to such an individual for comment says volumes about media elitists disdain for science, decency, and basic common sense, and their insouciant disregard for the innocence of children.

Or maybe they’re just too lazy to investigate, and can thereby claim ignorance. Whatever; when a member of the media quotes Kristopher Wells be aware that he’s the guy who thinks it’s OK to provide Alberta’s little children with quick access to explicit sexual instructions.

David EggenThese facts tell you everything you need to know before you vote in the upcoming Alberta election. Because, knowing all these facts – and she must have – Rachel Notley has continued with David Eggen as Minister of Education, which, in practical terms, makes her complicit in what normal people would see as the corruption of minors.

Here’s what Pennsylvania law says regarding the corruption of minors. “(ii) Whoever, being of the age of 18 years and upwards, by any course of conduct in violation of Chapter 31 (relating to sexual offenses) corrupts or tends to corrupt the morals of any minor less than 18 years of age, or who aids, abets, entices or encourages any such minor in the commission of an offense under Chapter 31 commits a felony of the third degree.” Under 18? What about providing sexually explicit material to children under 8?

NotleyLuckily for Ms. Notley, Mr. Eggen, and Mr. Wells, they live in Alberta, because in Pennsylvania it’s possible they could be charged with a felony and imprisoned. Not a bad idea in my opinion, but in Alberta, the best we can do and must do, four months from now, is throw the creeps out!

Rachels Super-Speech

NotleyThis past Saturday, Rachel Notley apparently gave a super speech to the faithful, attacking the policies of the United Conservative Party. Let’s get right into the specifics.

Rachel accused both Brian Jean and Jason Kenney of: “wanting to go back to the same failed (economic) policies that left us the mess that we are currently trying to clean up.” Obviously, that was a lie. Not one of the four UCP candidates wants to go back to the corruption, collusion, and big government/big spend economic policies of the Conservative Party of Alberta.

In fact, later in the speech it becomes very clear that Rachel’s real problem with the UCP is that all four candidates want to reduce public spending. That would obviously mean fewer jobs for her union buddies, and Rachel doesn’t want that! Her preference is to run up a 90 billion provincial debt by 2020. Take that you Millennials!

Then with an almost Trumpian rhetorical flourish, Ms. Notley said that Jason Kenney’s position on parental involvement in their kid’s education is, and I quote……”not just supersized, whatever. It’s super-cruel, it’s super-extreme, and it’s super-backwards.”

Doesn’t Rachel sound super-silly?

But here’s her beef. Alberta Education has ruled that that, when requested by even one student, a school must provide a GSA or Gay Straight Alliance clubs. EGALE, a radical gay rights organization has provided the “guidance” for setting up these clubs. When a student joins a club, parents must not be notified. Agenda anyone?

Mr. Kenney objects. He actually believes that when a child joins a club at school, parents must be notified. In fact, that’s exactly what provincial law calls for. The law states, explicitly, that parents are to be notified of all extracurricular activities that a child is involved in at school. It’s in plain English. National and international law says the same. But apparently, upholding the law is now considered super-extreme!

It gets even nuttier, and unfortunately, sicker.

To supervise the GSA website construction, David Eggen, the NDP Minister of Education, hired his friend; gay rights activist and agitator, Kris Wells. The website was duly launched. Several months later, Theresa Ng, an Edmonton mother and blogger, discovered and reported that there were links on the website to multiple, explicit “resource” sites. That’s X rated explicit. The links taken down. Think I’m exaggerating? Read ALBERTA’S PORN PUSHING POLITICIANS, and follow the links.

But then, Kris Wells, the website supervisor, attacked Theresa Ng for being hysterical and sensationalist. Remember, the website is for children, kindergarten through grade 12.

Kris Wells is still an advisor to the Minister. Ms. Premier; who in your opinion is the extremist here? Kris Wells and David Eggen should both have been fired.

Confuse em, then Recruit em!The “moderate” GSA website itself has “educational” information, like the Gender Bannock Bread Person, (above) which deliberately sets out to promote the same gender fluidity confusion as Planned Parenthood’s guide for parents, which suggests the following. Tell your child that: “Boy, girl, man and woman are words that describe gender identity, and some people with the gender identities ‘boy’ or ‘man’ have vulvas, and some with the gender identity ‘girl’ or ‘woman’ have penises/testicles. Your genitals don’t make you a boy or a girl.” (Emphasis mine)

Bet you didn’t know that, did you? Here’s the troubling result of this sick and unscientific crap.

A few days ago, a friend of ours was at an energy industry related conference, and she struck up a conversation with another woman. This woman related that recently, their 10-year-old son had come home from school, and quite concerned asked: “How can I be sure that I’m a boy?”

Really? That poor kid had been deliberately confused and unsettled by Alberta Education propaganda. Our taxes are funding child abuse, and if you care about kids you should be outraged!

camille pagliaListen, a lot of people in the LGBTQ community are just as appalled by this as you should be. Camille Paglia, a prominent lesbian feminist educator says bluntly, that this fluidity fad is child abuse.

But Rachel Notley’s apparently fine with it because David Eggen is still Education Minister, and Kris Wells is still an advisor. I say again; they should both be fired.

While teaching children to care for other children and adults that are struggling with sexual disorders is a good thing, I’ll take the risk of sounding like Premier Notley herself and say that the agenda driven GSA program is, super-unscientific, super- subversive to parents, super-abusive to kids, and should be super-eliminated.

The only way to fight it is to buy a membership, right now, in the United Conservative Party, or UCP. The deadline so you can vote for the leader is 5 PM, this Friday September 29th.

Again, here’s the link. Join for the kids.

Restoring Moderation

Dave 07There’s been a lot of talk lately about the need for a moderate conservatism. I agree.

Progressivist Conservatives often tell us that they are fiscally conservative but socially progressive, in other words, they are models of moderation.

What it really seems to mean in practice is that you must timidly support every  social initiative of the Progressivist Left, no matter how intrusive, anti-human rights, anti-family, anti-science, or, outright perverted.

The fact is that on most social issues, our society has completely abandoned moderation.

Because let me ask you:

Is it immoderate to oppose government initiatives that completely ignore the UN’s Declaration of Human Rights, which explicitly states that it’s not the government, but parents, who have a “prior” or first right, to decide on the education of their children?

Was it immoderate for Theresa Ng to reveal that Alberta’s taxpayer financed Gay Straight Alliance, or GSA website provided links to over 20 sexually explicit websites?

Kris WellsThat GSA website is approved for children ages 5 to 18, but Kris Wells the guy in charge, didn’t think Theresa’s concern was moderate. He called her hysterical and sensationalist. On what dystopian planet would you draw that conclusion?

Is it immoderate to affirm the scientific and biological, and obvious reality of two genders?

Is it immoderate to oppose government initiatives, that seek to normalize gender dysphoria in children, against the findings of science, and, simple common sense? Those initiatives constitute government sanctioned child abuse.

Is it immoderate for a politician to give a pass to Gay Pride Parades (LINK WARNING: severe stupidity on display)  – those Flasher Festivals where addled parents flaunt their Progressivist bona fides by taking their kids to gawk at naked men? In saner times, it would be considered child abuse.

Is it immoderate to point out the irrefutable scientific fact, that a human being’s life journey begins at conception, and that at no point is a fetus a part of a woman’s body. It is in her womb for protection and nourishment, but it has its own DNA, its own blood type, distinct heartbeat, and even personality!

Is it immoderate to insist that we need to have an honest conversation about abortion, and to enact a law to give the fetus protection after a certain stage of its development? Could we at least outlaw aborting baby girls, just because they’re girls?

The fact is, that it’s the current governments of Alberta and Ontario and Canada that are immoderate.

Most of the mainstream media is giddily proud of their immoderate social views.

Much of Hollywood is immoderate to the borders of insanity.

It’s past time for real moderates – that would be those of us who don’t ignore biology and science, and who have a high regard for observed reality – to make our voices heard, and call out the im-moderation of the Progressivist Left.

You can make your voice heard by joining these organizations. Theresa Ng, Parents for Choice: Donna Trimble, Informed Albertans, and John Carpay, Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom.

Donna TrimbleTheresa NgJohn Carpay

And please help us, by joining the Let’s Do It Ourselves online community.

But, there’s a crisis in Alberta, right now, and it requires your immediate attention.

  1. Buy a membership in the Wildrose Party of Alberta; deadline July 8, and
  2. Buy a membership in the Conservative Party of Alberta; deadline July 12.
  3. Then on July 20-22, vote to Unite the Right.

Join both parties, online, for just $10 each.

Because Alberta’s Progressivist Left is actively encouraging their supporters to buy memberships, so that they can vote to stop the Unite the Right initiative.

We can’t let them. Common sense conservatives must unite or take the risk of another four years of Rachel Notley’s NDP; possibly the most radically immoderate government in Canadian history.

If you don’t get involved, the NDP could be in power until 2023, and you will regret it, because the cost to the finances and freedoms of your children and grandchildren would be terrible.

Please, join each of the parties right now, and on July 20-22, vote to unite!

Sincerely

Dave Reesor

Fundamental Issues

Dave 07I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about how to approach this blog, but it’s probably best to do it head on, although the subject matter would suggest an approach from behind would be more appropriate.

First of all, you really need to read this hilarious column by humorist, Dave Barry. It is one of the funniest pieces I’ve ever read. While you read it, remember, Mr. Barry is a humorist.

Okay, now that you have Dave Barry’s perspective from 2008, let me give you an update for 2017. I’m 73 and I just had my fifth colonoscopy, and things have come a long way since my first one in 1994.

First of all, the stuff you have to drink now doesn’t taste all that bad. It’s certainly better than the energy drink that I used to keep hydrated. The only uncomfortable thing is the quantity which is about 2 L over two hours, and then eight hours later, another 2 L over two hours. Big deal.

And yes, you do have to stay within a couple of minutes of a bathroom, but I doubt if there are many of my readers that haven’t had that experience from having the flu. The regimen they call Colon Prep is far less distressing.

And finally, there is about a 15 minute period during which the doctor performs an invasive procedure. But the technology has improved so much that there is minimal discomfort, and besides you get to watch it all on the big screen beside your bed. How to put this delicately, but this is the only time in your life that you can be proud of having your cranium up your fundament, even if it’s just in virtual reality.

Seriously, less than one third of Canadians and Americans have this procedure which should start when you’re 50, and tragically, thousands die unnecessarily each year. A colonoscopy is a mildly invasive procedure, but not one millionth as invasive as colon cancer.

ColonoscopyIf this all was too much inside information for you, (yes, pun intended), I’m sorry. My only purpose is to, hopefully, save a life. You might want to forward it to those you love.

Look after each other!

Dave Reesor
