Calgary’s Insane Bylaw

dwr.jpgTo North Americans that have kept their minds throughout 50 years of postmodernism, it’s become increasingly clear that many Californians have lost theirs. A couple of legislators in “going broke” California are proposing spending $15 million subsidizing so-called gender transitioning therapy and surgery.

Laura Perry is going to testify against the spending. About a decade ago she had a double mastectomy because she believed that she was a man trapped in a woman’s body. She thought it was going to change her life, but says she was devastated when she realized that her surgery actually hadn’t made her a man. She says that her suicidal thoughts and those of many in a similar situation, were actually worse after the so-called treatment.

Another person opposing the bill is Dr. Quentin L. Van Meter, a board-certified Pediatric Endocrinologist with 40 years of experience. He says: “Biological bedrock science proves that human beings are binary sexual beings with complementary anatomy that is intended to facilitate procreation.”

I’ve been saying the same thing, albeit slightly differently. “Human beings evolved, or were created, or were created by evolution, to mate heterosexually. That is not only the natural order of things in our species, but it is in every animal species, and even in many plant species. Sexual attraction or gender identification outside of that order, is disorder. In fact, children who believe that they’re not the gender with which they were born, are scientifically referred to as having GID, or Gender Identity Disorder. Likewise, those sexually attracted to the same sex have a sexual attraction disorder.”

That biological observation in no way suggests or excuses mistreatment or discrimination against people with those disorders. I believe that now, and I lived it nearly 60 years ago. Hanging out with a gay friend, now, is trendy. In Calgary in 1963, not so much.

Dr SohScience is based on facts, and as a Calgarian, I find it embarrassing that our City Counselors are traveling that same intellectually incoherent path through the postmodern wilderness as those California legislators. They’re pursuing a nanny-state bylaw that forbids individuals from receiving counseling that might help them leave a lifestyle that they are uncomfortable with. But those same individuals, and even little children, are encouraged to receive counseling that affirms them in living a life of sexual identity or attraction disorder. Quack surgeons in the LGBT movement are performing mastectomies on little girls as young as thirteen.

The assertion by radical activists in the LGBT community, that no one ever truly leaves the LGBT lifestyle, is a lie. I’ve been to several conferences where there were many individuals who testified that they had, and I’ve had personal conversations with them. Do some research and you’ll find thousands.

Here’s a reality check. I had a friend who lived a straight life until he was in his late forties, and then came out that he had spent his life feeling like he was a female trapped in a male body. So about 15 years ago he took the hormones. Then was legally mutilated by a surgeon who assured him that he was now a woman. Two years later he confided to me it had been a horrible mistake and that henceforth he would live as what he was, a man minus his genitals.

My friend’s story should make you cry, and it should make you angry. Because Calgary counselors are now saying that what happened to my friend was acceptable, but, that if he was now in the same situation and sought counseling to help him live by his DNA, his counselor could be fined, and jailed. Pardon me for being so blunt, but you have to have stepped across the border, into insanity, to believe that that is rational.

If you agree that nanny-state abuse needs to end, please Like and Share this post. It will also be posted on Facebook and Twitter. You could also send it directly to your city counselor. Social media works, if you work it!

Calgary City Counselors. Every one of them has voted positively for the bylaw banning therapy. Let’s remember to vote to positively throw them all out at the next election.

LESLYN LEWIS. Remember that name.

dwr.jpgFor those of you that follow me on Facebook and Twitter and in my IWUZ.ME blogs, I don’t think it’s a surprise for me to tell you that I’m a social conservative. But I’m a moderate social conservative. I do believe in traditional marriage and I believe that it was breathtakingly presumptuous for Progressivists to insist that we throw out thousands of years of tradition which recognized marriage as a union between a man and a woman, in favor of same-sex marriage. And many in the LGBT community agreed. Same-sex relationships being recognized in law as civil unions, as they are in many “progressive” European countries, would have been fine. But that ship has sailed, and it’s up to us that believe in traditional marriage to make it stronger.

Regarding women’s rights, I am pro-choice, just not unlimited choice. I’m pro-life, but I recognize the fact that we will never completely end abortions, and therefore believe we should compromise and set limits around abortion. I agree with the author of the guest blog I published last week, that social conservatives need to take a well thought out position, and then to articulate that position over and over again until people understand it. And we should be pragmatic; Gain what is possible.

indexWe need to do that as individual conservatives, but in the public sphere it would be wonderful if we had exceptionally well-qualified people to articulate the socially conservative position. A few days ago I ran across the name Leslyn Lewis, and I am convinced that Ms. Lewis is one of those persons.

She’s hardly known as yet, but she’s running for leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. Ms. Lewis would bring a new gravitas to the entire spectrum of debate; from fiscal conservatism, to social conservatism, to legal conservatism.

Here’s a rundown of her qualifications. Single mom, Entrepreneur, a Bachelors Degree from the University of Toronto Trinity College, graduating Magna Cum Laude; a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University; an MBA Concentration in Business and Environment from the Schulich School of Business; a Juris Doctorate from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a PhD in International Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. I’m not aware of any leader of any political party in Canada, or the United States, in my lifetime, with equal, non-political qualifications.

I think that even if Ms. Lewis doesn’t win the leadership of the Conservative party, and she probably can’t, she would elevate the level of the discussion around Conservative leadership enormously. Because of that, Meritha and I are supporting her for leadership of the Conservative party. If you’d like to see a higher level of debate, here’s what to do.

  1. Have a valid membership in the Conservative party. If you’re not sure, or can’t find your number, phone the party at 1-866-808-8407 and get your membership number.
  2. Go to her website, http://www.leslynlewis.ca and click on Nomination Form, and fill it out carefully.

Let’s make sure that as the Conservative Party elects a new leader, they have the highest quality debate possible!

I’m Dave Reesor

If you agree that it would be advantageous for the Conservatives to have the highest possible level of debate, on real issues, please, right away, Like, and Share with your family, friends and colleagues so that Ms. Lewis can be part of the discussion. As lawyers say: TIME is of the essence!

Nietzsche Rediscovered

DW Blog

I’ve always considered psychiatry to be a soft science at best, but in the last couple of years I’ve taken another look at it, mainly because Jordan Peterson seems to have hardened it up. Peterson actually refers to hard data, which many scientists do with decreasing frequency. Peterson often quotes Vienna psychiatrist Carl Jung, and philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, although less approvingly of Nietzsche.

In a short video, Prof. John Robson succinctly analyses Peterson’s possible reasons for his ambivalent view of Nietzsche. You should watch it because Nietzsche’s ideas are vitally important to understanding the underlying reasons for the disintegration of Western culture.

John RobsonBy the way, John Robson, who might be called Canada’s walking encyclopedia on the history of rights and freedoms developed since Magna Carta, (and which we are now, sadly, in the process of losing thanks to Justin Trudeau’s genetically inherited admiration for all things dictatorial), is a featured speaker at the upcoming Things That Matter conference to be held on February 8 and 9 at the Best Western, Port O Call Hotel at 1935 McKnight Boulevard NE, Calgary.

I’ve attended the conference since its inception, and it’s gotten better each year. Last year, numerous attendees from across Canada said it was the best conference they’ve ever attended. With this year’s lineup of speakers, 2019’s conference will be better yet.

Stay warm! Spring is only two months away, or three, or four, depending on climate change of course.

Jordan Peterson & the Speech Nazis

Peterson_Lecture_(33522701146)The anti-free speech, anti-freedom of assembly Progressivist Left is at it again. The target of their opprobrium is Prof. Jordan Peterson whose original sin was to insist that he would not submit to being ordered, by government, to speak certain words. In saner times he would have been lauded as a free-speech champion.

But we’re now living at George Orwell’s Animal Farm where we’re all equal, but some are more equal than others. Or in the current context: “Free speech for all, but only for you if you agree with me.”

So a bunch of Calgary’s Progressivist artistes have gotten together and begun circulating a petition to insist that Calgary’s Arts Commons cancel the July 27 event at which Jordan Peterson is the main speaker. Here’s some of what they say in their letter to Arts Commons.

“The dangerous ideas that Peterson stands and advocates for mongers hatred and discrimination against many of our staff.” But they failed to specify which of Peterson’s ideas are actually dangerous.

Personal note. I actually went to a Jordan Peterson event a couple of years ago when he was just starting to become famous, and since then I’ve watched a number of his videos and lectures. From what I’ve seen, only the clinically insane could be influenced by Peterson’s words to actually hate or harm anyone. Neither Peterson, or even these self important artists and academics incite me to hatred, but the latter’s totalitarian inclinations certainly incite me to disgust.

Because in another place in their letter they talk about “ideas”, but then they insist that Peterson’s insistence on his right to free speech subverts “ideas which are meant to protect, not be weaponized.”

** Weaponized speech is currently the handy-dandy-ist shriek-trigger for the Progressivist Left.

They go on: “Note that we are not writing this letter simply because we disagree with Peterson’s views; we feel that any individual or group of people, Peterson in this case, whose ideas and actions directly jeopardize the safety and freedom of others.”

This “danger to safety and freedom” is patent nonsense. In fact, Arts Commons says they must increase security for the sold-out event, because the Progressivist’s tantrum brigade are likely to show up. There is physical danger from them, and there is real danger to freedom of speech from the very artists and academics who, with breathtaking hypocrisy,  have forever insisted on their right to say, write, paint, and act out whatever they wish.

LandscapSo what’s next? Peterson has sold over 1 million books in the last six months, so is the Progressivist Left now going to organize a Peterson book burning? In the 20th century, the Left, operating under the banners of Communism, Nazism, Maoism and other Left-wing-isms, made book burning and book banning part of their modus operandi. And for good measure they killed 100 million of their citizens.

Unfortunately, the Peterson event is sold out or I’d strongly urge you to get tickets. But Peterson has some excellent videos on YouTube and they’re great for your millennial children or grandchildren who are struggling with what to do with their life. Peterson actually says that life’s tough, but well worth living with all you’ve got. He even says: “Do good.” Admittedly, that is old-fashioned thinking; its the thinking that inspired the pioneers that built this country over the past 200 years.

Peterson is certainly dangerous, but watch this brief video of him speaking, and then you decide who and what he’s dangerous to. And you’ll understand what all the Leftist, Progressivist, Fascist caterwauling is about. Peterson’s resuscitation of common-sense poses a mortal danger to their very existence.

The Right to Discriminate

Dave 07To Discriminate means to recognize a distinction between things. I think that even the dimmest among us recognizes that red and green are two different colors and that some people have better voices than others and some people are better athletes than others. So we discriminate when we go to a concert, or an athletic event.

But discrimination also means to make an unjust or prejudicial distinction in the treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, sex, or age. I think that most people recognize that that type of discrimination is seriously wrong, but should it be illegal? As a Christian with a distinctly libertarian bent, I don’t think so, unless it advocates, or acts out violence.

But then, at an even deeper level, discrimination finds itself at the intersect between choices, and rights, and that’s where a lot of seriously wrongheaded thinking takes place, particularly as regards sexuality.

I’m straight, and I had no choice in that matter; it’s just what I am. But nearly 52 years ago I made a choice to end my single existence, and to get married. However, my choice was not automatically granted; I had to ask Meritha, (it was on about the 5th date and at first she thought I was joking), and she had to accept, otherwise I might still be single.

My heterosexuality was not a choice; but to be married was, and it was contingent on the acceptance of my choice by someone else. And even then, after I had Meritha on side, we  had to choose when and where to be married; who to perform the ceremony; who to cater, and so on. And every one of our choices had to be agreed to by someone else, and every one of those individuals had every right to refuse our choice, on any grounds whatsoever.

Recently, the US Supreme Court upheld a Colorado baker’s right to refuse to bake a cake celebrating a same-sex marriage. It’s regarded as a victory for freedom of religion, but there are some questions as to how effective it will be in the long run. Because there is increasingly a lot of severely muddle-headed thinking around sexuality.

So again, here’s what I think. It’s not scientifically supported, but let’s allow that the same-sex couple in Colorado were both born gay and that they had no choice in their sexual attraction. But their “marriage” unequivocally represented a continuum of choices. First of all, who to marry. Once they were past that hurdle, who to perform the ceremony, where to hold the ceremony and the celebration afterwards. Then, who to cater the event, and who they chose to make the cake.

Every one of those was a choice, not a right, and for the marriage plans to go forward, those choices either had be accepted by the other parties involved, or a different choice made. I personally see no reason that those choices could not be refused on any grounds whatsoever, but for certain, a person should have been able to refuse them on the grounds of their freedom of association, or of conscience. Those are universally recognized human rights. Marriage is not an inherent human right, nor are the rituals surrounding marriage.

trans-man-having-babyWe need to start to think clearly about sexuality, because when you don’t you end up with situations like this.

Try to figure it out.

Then think of the child.

I’m Dave Reesor, and please let me know what you think.

** For more perspective, I wrote a blog about this issue a few years ago.

Free Speech and the Left

Dave 07As you know, John Carpay and the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom (JCCF) are in the forefront of fighting back against Progressivist attacks on basic human rights, including attacks on free speech.

Free speech used to mean that you could say anything you wanted, provided it didn’t promote or incite violence. Free speech even included hate speech, provided it didn’t promote or incite violence.

For example, you could say that you hated old white men, or even more specifically, that you hate Dave Reesor, and by the way, so should everyone else. In fact, I’d defend your right to say exactly that, in public and in private, or even to take out an ad in the newspaper advocating: “Hate Dave Reesor.” Only if you promote violence have you stepped over the line.

That’s free speech, or at least it was.

But now, in our “I’m a victim”, post-modern / post-rational new world, you can find yourself in trouble if you hurt someone’s feelings, or even say something that might hurt someone’s or some group’s feelings. And apparently, there are endless groups that are victims of white privilege, or ancient wrongs done to their ancestors, or some other debilitating grievance.

So we have endless groups that must not be offended; that is, with the exception of conservatives, practicing Christians and Jews, aboriginal Canadians and women who don’t vote Progressivist, etc.. In the United States, the old free speech rules apply to conservative women and conservative African-Americans; everyone else is a victim, and must not be offended.

John CarpayThis imbalance around free speech is enthusiastically abetted by most Canadian and American universities. In this short video, John Carpay explains exactly how universities are shutting down free speech. The JCCF believes in free speech, including your free speech; it fights unfair university policies, and it usually wins! If you believe in free speech, you should support them.

And if you haven’t already, it would be greatly appreciated if you supported us by becoming a member of the Let’s Do It Ourselves online community.

Have a great weekend!

Cool Christians

Dave 07

Recent article in Vice.com. “Meet the woke young people trying to make Christianity cool again.” Apparently, “Cool Christians” totally believe in anthropogenic global warming and climate change orthodoxy, and in human rights and racial equality.

Before reading the story, it had never occurred to me that the point of adopting a worldview, like Christianity, or Islam, or Atheism, was to be cool, but rather, to find, and live in the truth. I still believe that.

But anyway; is it true that human produced CO2 is the major driver of climate change, and the warming trend? Since the current warming began about 1850, which is recognized as the end of the Little Ice Age, – Cold! Advancing glaciers! Frost in July! – it would seem that the current warming is natural Thousands of climate scientists agree. (Don’t bother fact checking at the CBC)

As for climate change itself; if we could bring up the spirits of our ancestors going back for the last hundred thousand years, it would be instructive to ask them if they think climate change is something new. Of course, from history and from the geological record,  we know that it’s not. So, while believing in catastrophic, human caused, global warming and climate change may be cool, it simply isn’t true.

Genuine Christian belief has always supported the right of all people, to respect, and security, in the broader community. (Like any organization, the Christian church has a right to set its rules for membership. And as with any group of humans, there are people who don’t follow the rules.)

It seems to me that respect should go both ways. A same-sex couple’s right to live in peace and security does not include them being able to force others to participate their choices.  My choice does not override your freedom.

For instance, whether or not to marry is a choice. Gay or straight, your choice to marry depends on someone else agreeing to that choice. And your choice of caterer, or officiator should depend on said individual agreeing to that choice.

I think we’ve gone way overboard in conflating fundamental rights, with an ersatz right to force someone else to acquiesce to, or even participate in our choices. In fact, I’m enough of a small L libertarian to say that if a condominium owner doesn’t want to rent to old white heterosexual couples, that’s their right. And I’d defend it.

I’d even say that if the fire department refused my choice to fulfill my lifelong dream to become a firefighter, (it isn’t) simply because I’m too old, that should be their right. Oh yeah; it always has been their right. Institutionalized Ageism!

Further to marriage; considering that it’s a biological fact that we evolved / were created, to mate heterosexually, I’d still tend to agree with the Supreme Court of Canada which said, about 25 years ago: “Throughout its history, marriage has been fundamentally about children, and is therefore, by nature, heterosexual.”

Of course marriage is no longer fundamentally about children, but rather about adults living out their choices. Let’s at least acknowledge, that after thousands of years, the fundamental definition of marriage has been changed.

Referencing the latest LGBTQ “rights” fad; while your insisting that that a child with a penis might be a girl!!, may be almost too cool to be true; the question is, is it true? There remains some doubt.

Finally, racial equality. My Mennonite (Christian) ancestors moved to Pennsylvania in 1739 and immediately joined a letter writing campaign opposing slavery, directed at the U.S. Congress. I’ve seen one of the letters. They kept it up until 1865, when Lincoln freed the slaves.

In Britain, an evangelical Christian named William Wilberforce spent almost his entire lifetime opposing slavery, and finally succeeding in having it outlawed throughout the British Empire. That was the first time, in human history, that slavery had been expunged from a society.

Jesus himself, by very pointedly and purposefully telling his disciples and the Jewish leaders of the day the story of the Good Samaritan, was setting the standard for interracial/intercultural attitudes. To the Jewish elites of that day the very term, Good Samaritan, was an oxymoron. They regarded Samaritans the same way that ISIS, and the extremists of the left and right, and those lonely nutters in the KKK, currently regard Jews.

Black Lives Matter? What about Asian, and Southeast Asian, and Native American lives? Dare I even ask: “What about old white Canadian lives?”

Anyway, when Christians think and act as racists, they’ve gone rogue. The rule hasn’t changed. But then, Christianity is all about the fact that we’ve ALL gone rogue in one way or another. In the movie “Unforgiven”, Billy the Kidd tells Clint Eastwood’s character that he’d shot one of the bad guys, but that: “He had it coming.” Eastwood’s character growls: “We all have it coming.”

And so we do. Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter are the answer to that grave truth.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day when we remember all those young people that lost their lives defending freedom. So let’s remember.

And then let’s continue to remember next week, and next month, and in the years to come; that freedom isn’t free. Nor is it guaranteed.

Rachels Super-Speech

NotleyThis past Saturday, Rachel Notley apparently gave a super speech to the faithful, attacking the policies of the United Conservative Party. Let’s get right into the specifics.

Rachel accused both Brian Jean and Jason Kenney of: “wanting to go back to the same failed (economic) policies that left us the mess that we are currently trying to clean up.” Obviously, that was a lie. Not one of the four UCP candidates wants to go back to the corruption, collusion, and big government/big spend economic policies of the Conservative Party of Alberta.

In fact, later in the speech it becomes very clear that Rachel’s real problem with the UCP is that all four candidates want to reduce public spending. That would obviously mean fewer jobs for her union buddies, and Rachel doesn’t want that! Her preference is to run up a 90 billion provincial debt by 2020. Take that you Millennials!

Then with an almost Trumpian rhetorical flourish, Ms. Notley said that Jason Kenney’s position on parental involvement in their kid’s education is, and I quote……”not just supersized, whatever. It’s super-cruel, it’s super-extreme, and it’s super-backwards.”

Doesn’t Rachel sound super-silly?

But here’s her beef. Alberta Education has ruled that that, when requested by even one student, a school must provide a GSA or Gay Straight Alliance clubs. EGALE, a radical gay rights organization has provided the “guidance” for setting up these clubs. When a student joins a club, parents must not be notified. Agenda anyone?

Mr. Kenney objects. He actually believes that when a child joins a club at school, parents must be notified. In fact, that’s exactly what provincial law calls for. The law states, explicitly, that parents are to be notified of all extracurricular activities that a child is involved in at school. It’s in plain English. National and international law says the same. But apparently, upholding the law is now considered super-extreme!

It gets even nuttier, and unfortunately, sicker.

To supervise the GSA website construction, David Eggen, the NDP Minister of Education, hired his friend; gay rights activist and agitator, Kris Wells. The website was duly launched. Several months later, Theresa Ng, an Edmonton mother and blogger, discovered and reported that there were links on the website to multiple, explicit “resource” sites. That’s X rated explicit. The links taken down. Think I’m exaggerating? Read ALBERTA’S PORN PUSHING POLITICIANS, and follow the links.

But then, Kris Wells, the website supervisor, attacked Theresa Ng for being hysterical and sensationalist. Remember, the website is for children, kindergarten through grade 12.

Kris Wells is still an advisor to the Minister. Ms. Premier; who in your opinion is the extremist here? Kris Wells and David Eggen should both have been fired.

Confuse em, then Recruit em!The “moderate” GSA website itself has “educational” information, like the Gender Bannock Bread Person, (above) which deliberately sets out to promote the same gender fluidity confusion as Planned Parenthood’s guide for parents, which suggests the following. Tell your child that: “Boy, girl, man and woman are words that describe gender identity, and some people with the gender identities ‘boy’ or ‘man’ have vulvas, and some with the gender identity ‘girl’ or ‘woman’ have penises/testicles. Your genitals don’t make you a boy or a girl.” (Emphasis mine)

Bet you didn’t know that, did you? Here’s the troubling result of this sick and unscientific crap.

A few days ago, a friend of ours was at an energy industry related conference, and she struck up a conversation with another woman. This woman related that recently, their 10-year-old son had come home from school, and quite concerned asked: “How can I be sure that I’m a boy?”

Really? That poor kid had been deliberately confused and unsettled by Alberta Education propaganda. Our taxes are funding child abuse, and if you care about kids you should be outraged!

camille pagliaListen, a lot of people in the LGBTQ community are just as appalled by this as you should be. Camille Paglia, a prominent lesbian feminist educator says bluntly, that this fluidity fad is child abuse.

But Rachel Notley’s apparently fine with it because David Eggen is still Education Minister, and Kris Wells is still an advisor. I say again; they should both be fired.

While teaching children to care for other children and adults that are struggling with sexual disorders is a good thing, I’ll take the risk of sounding like Premier Notley herself and say that the agenda driven GSA program is, super-unscientific, super- subversive to parents, super-abusive to kids, and should be super-eliminated.

The only way to fight it is to buy a membership, right now, in the United Conservative Party, or UCP. The deadline so you can vote for the leader is 5 PM, this Friday September 29th.

Again, here’s the link. Join for the kids.

Fighting for Alberta’s Kids

Dave 07Meritha and I recently attended a Conference on the Family in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The three featured speakers were Theresa Ng, a mom and teacher who blogs at Informed Albertans; Donna Trimble, executive director of Parents for Choice in Education and John Carpay of Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms , JCCF.

These are three excellent speakers who devote an enormous amount of their time to fighting for your rights to free speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and, as the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights puts it, your “prior right” as a parent, to decide on your children’s education.

That specific right is under attack by the Progressivist Left, which has infiltrated such organizations as the Alberta Teacher Federation, Progress Alberta, The Canadian Union of Public Employees, and so on. They are promoting the idea that they have the “prior right” to decide on how your children will be educated, and they are prepared to lie like fascists to get their way.

Donna TrimbleFor instance, they tell you that public funds subsidize alternate/private/charter schools. The exact opposite is true. Donna Trimble of Parents for Choice in Education spoke to that issue.

Here is the Executive Summary of a PCE study on where Alberta taxpayer’s money actually goes when it comes to educating our kids. This study was based on analysis done by respected economist, Mark Milke.

Executive Summary

In Alberta in 2014/15, 631,089 students were enrolled in some sort of public school—“public,” separate (Catholic), Francophone or Charter. On the private side, 29,400 students were enrolled in independent schools.

That year, a conservative estimate of the public system cost to taxpayers—including instruction, operations and transportation but excluding governance, program support and basic education program costs—amounted to $10,874 per student. In contrast, because private schools receive less funding per student relative to the public system, and charge school enrollment fees to parents, the cost to taxpayers of students in independent/private schools was $5,150 per student—or less than half the public school cost.

In 2014/15, had all the students enrolled in independent schools instead attended public schools, the extra cost to taxpayers—and the provincial education budget—would have been $168 million. Over the five years analyzed in this report (2010/11 to 2014/15 inclusive), the existence of independent/ private schools thus saved taxpayers a total of $750-million.

So, what the study showed, is that Alberta parents who send their kids to alternate schools actually subsidize the public system to the tune of about $250 million a year. For a different analysis of the same facts, I blogged about it at a couple of months ago at Stop Subsidizing Public Schools!

Theresa NgTheresa Ng, blogger and founder of Informed Albertans, spoke about her discovery that Alberta taxpayer’s dollars were used to fund the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) website, and that the website had over 20 links to sites promoting and illustrating a variety of sexual activities, the mildest of which gave  instructions on oral sex, and sex positions to try at home. The website was government approved for kindergarten through grade 12.

When “outed” by Theresa, the links were removed, but the website supervisor, Kris Wells, then attacked Theresa for being sensationalist and hysterical. Follow the link to my blog, Alberta’s Porn Pushing Politicians and then follow the links to what Theresa uncovered, and you decide for yourself if it’s even possible to be overly sensationalist about this issue.

John CarpayJohn Carpay of JCCF passionately encouraged us to be informed and thoughtful, and then, bold and courageous in defense of our fundamental rights and freedoms, specifically parental rights. John has led many high profile fights for freedom of speech on campuses, and the right of Trinity Western University to establish a law school.

I’d encourage you to spend some serious time following the links on this blog. Our basic freedoms are under attack, and for the futures of our children and grandchildren, we need to become informed, and active. And I’d encourage you to subscribe to and support these three organizations. Donna and Theresa and John are true freedom fighters.

And of course, I’d encourage you to become a member of the Let’s Do It Ourselves online community. My view is that conservatives need to Cooperate, Contribute, and Communicate effectively or we’re going to lose this war, and we don’t need to.

The Progressivist Left’s biggest asset is our apathy. Please share this with your entire email list, and keep it going.

Best to each of you!

Alberta’s Porn Pushing Politicians

Dave 07Dear friends

Sad to say, but the saga of Alberta’s porn-pushing government continues. As most of you probably know, for several months our children from kindergarten to grade 12 were provided links to explicit, how to do every kind of sex imaginable – some unimaginable – sites, through our government financed, and promoted, Gay Straight Alliance, or GSA website. If Edmonton area mother and teacher, Theresa Ng, hadn’t discovered these links, they’d still be there. Adults can do or watch what they choose, but pushing porn to little kids amounts to the corruption of minors. Your tax dollars at work.

As you would expect, the mainstream media outlets have been pretty much ignoring it, David Eggenbut the people responsible for this; education Minister David Eggen, (photo), and his buddy, Kris Wells, who was responsible for rolling out the GSA website, should be fired, and never again allowed to have any influence on the education of your children.

If you haven’t already informed yourself about this, please take the time to read Theresa’s update letter, and follow her links that show some of the sites that kids as young as five were encouraged to go to.

And then please get involved; sign the petition, write letters, and phone politicians. Sad to say, the Wildrose has appeared a bit wobbly on this one. I’m very disappointed.

The NDP’s biggest asset is our apathy. If this scandal alone doesn’t take this government down in 2019, then Alberta has become far sicker than I ever imagined.

Sincerely

Dave Reesor
